Meem is a celebrated music producer from Sydney, Australia. He has been producing and releasing music since 1998, and has performed alongside acts such as Thievery Corporation, Groove Armada, Jamie Lidell, M.I.A, People Under The Stairs, Girl Talk and Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings. From roots in electronica, Meems music has gradually grown towards a more organic live sound. Borrowing heavily from funk, soul, jazz, disco & boogie, Meem also now incorporates guest musicians into his live shows.
Backing up on Friday 1st January is Horrorshow, Astronomy Class and local dj, Dj Fix. Astronomy Class, No strangers to the Blue Mountains! Their 2006 debut Exit Strategy announced a refreshingly reggae influenced hip hop sound, building on the diverse musical backgrounds of the trio. Two singles received lengthy airplay on triple j, A Bright Tomorrow and Done the Sums, while two impressive national tours consolidated their presence in the Australian music scene. Horrorshow have officially solidified their position in the ‘bands to watch’ list with the release of their second album, Inside Story in 2009. Their first single Thoughtcrime (Doin’ My Think) is now playing on Triple j & the accompanying music video will hit screens shortly.
Rounding out the 3 night festival on Saturday 2nd January with The Tongue, Purple Sneakers DJs and J Beetz . The Purple Sneaker boys have been Responsible for pulling over 800 people every Friday night at Sydney's longest running indie club, Purple Sneakers, PSDJs are a bunch of party dudes throwing down boundary-pushing dance-floor bombs, doing it better than any other indie DJ around. One of Australia's highest profile party-starters Ben Lucid & M.I.T. Together, they have rallied the crowds on tours such as Santogold, Bloc Party, The Presets, Le Tigre, Chk Chk Chk, The Kills, Ratatat, Alan Braxe, VHS or Beta, DJ AM, Good Charlotte, Lily Allen, Ian Brown, Chicks on Speed, Midnight Juggernauts, Princess Superstar etc etc...and festivals including Splendour in Grass, Big Day Out, Field Day, Good Vibrations, Falls Festival, Parklife, The Great Escape, Playground Weekender, We Love Sounds and the Come Together Festival - ie, pretty much every great festival on the calendar!
